Former British Politician Amber Rudd Joins Darktrace’s Advisory Board

Cambridge, UK
May 19, 2020

Darktrace, the world’s leading cyber AI company, today announced that British politician Rt Hon Amber Rudd, who served as Britain’s Home Secretary from 2016 to 2018, has joined the company’s advisory board.

After a career in banking, venture capital and head hunting, Amber Rudd became the MP for Hastings and Rye from 2010 to 2019. She held three cabinet roles over four years, serving under three Prime Ministers, first in Energy and Climate Change, then the Home Office as Home Secretary and until September 2019 in Work and Pensions. She also twice served as Minister for Women and Equalities. As Energy Secretary she steered the UK’s participation in the crucial and successful Paris Climate Change Agreement in 2015.

As Home Secretary, she oversaw the UK’s response to the 2017 terrorist attacks. Under her leadership the UK established a world-leading, international industry-led effort to remove radicalising material on the internet. She has recently become a Trustee for The Climate Group, working with the private sector to reach a net zero outcome.

“As Home Secretary I learnt first-hand that robust cyber defences are of paramount importance both to the private and public sector and so I am delighted to be joining Darktrace as a senior advisor,” commented Rt Hon Amber Rudd. “The UK is well positioned to fight the cyber challenge not only with government initiatives like the National Cyber Security Centre providing world class support, but because of Darktrace, the world’s leading cyber AI company, leading the charge in autonomous defences.”

“I am delighted to have Amber join our advisory board,” commented Poppy Gustafsson, CEO of Darktrace. “Her distinguished career in politics and deep expertise in national security will be of great value to the advisory board, as Darktrace continues to defend the world’s most critical digital infrastructures.”
