Darktrace Joins CyberFirst to Help Close the Cyber Skills Gap

Cambridge, UK
December 17, 2020

Darktrace, the world’s leading cyber AI company, has today announced that it is partnering with CyberFirst, a programme led by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – a part of GCHQ – aimed at inspiring young people to develop cyber security skills and learn more about careers in the industry.

Darktrace will be offering eight-week summer undergraduate placements for UK students to gain insights and experience of the company’s Cyber Technologist and Cyber Analyst roles with a view to CyberFirst graduates starting technical positions within the organisation. It will also support the NCSC’s annual CyberFirst Girls competition, aimed at school girls in Year 8 (England and Wales), Year 9 (Northern Ireland) or S2 (Scotland).

“The NCSC is committed to offering young people opportunities to excel in cyber security, and our work with industry partners plays a vital role in this. We are pleased to welcome Darktrace to our community of more than 130 organisations that support the CyberFirst programme and its ambition to close the UK’s cyber skills gap,” said Chris Ensor, the NCSC’s Deputy Director for Cyber Growth.

Poppy Gustafsson, CEO of Darktrace, commented, “We are excited to contribute to CyberFirst’s programme and showcase cyber security careers at a time when organisations need to strengthen their cyber resilience more than ever.”

Darktrace is also a supporter of WISE, a social enterprise that promotes the participation and success of women in STEM careers.
