YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles Selects Darktrace for Autonomous Response
Darktrace, the world’s leading AI company for cyber defense, has today announced that YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA Y) has deployed Darktrace AI for threat detection and autonomous response. LA Y joins numerous other non-profits securing their networks with Darktrace AI, including Catholic Charities of Santa Clara, the Royal British Legion, and International Baccalaureate.
With over 264,000 children, teenagers, and elderly depending on the LA Y’s health and social services programs, sustaining the community’s trust is paramount for the organization. The LA Y also has over 100 sites and more than 200 community partners, which increases the organization’s reach, but also introduces additional complexity and risk into the network. Taking proactive steps to protect its members’ personal data and gain visibility over its numerous locations, the LA Y deployed Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System to autonomously fight back against in-progress attacks.
The longer Darktrace AI is on our network, the stronger our defenses get,” said Alex Martin, Senior Network Engineer and IT Security Manager at YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. “The Enterprise Immune System continuously updates and refines its understanding of our network, alerting us to emerging threats that we would otherwise be unaware of. Its unique ability to autonomously slow and stop in-progress attacks is enormously powerful and a must for organizations that want to effectively arm themselves against today’s novel threats.”
Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, the Enterprise Immune System learns the ‘pattern of life’ for every device and user on a network and uses this evolving understanding of ‘normal’ to detect and respond to anomalous activity in real time. Darktrace AI generates precise and targeted actions, akin to digital antibodies, that halt the progress of attacks. These capabilities enable organizations to quickly disarm ‘low and slow’ and machine-speed attacks before damage is done.
Over the past year, we’ve seen an increasing number of cyber-attacks aimed at undermining our trust in organizations,” commented Rob Sass, Managing Director, North America, Darktrace. “Darktrace’s early threat detection and autonomous response capabilities provide a formidable advantage to organizations proactively enhancing their cyber defenses. Now, instead of waiting for an attack to wreak havoc on its network, the LA Y has the tools it needs to take action and fight back.”
